this is a wonderful book that shows how our focus on medical care is almost entirely off the point when environmental and public health conditions affect the health of BILLIONS of people around the world/. yet most americans think of "health" as something that comes from access to medical care. and now that we're spending more and more money on medical care (a trend that is not going to be reversed by healthcare reform in the US)we're defunding programs that can make most of the world healthier. and as the contributors explain, this can't for on for much longer.
