Reminds me of an old movie Plot

A detective (sorta), doing his job in a strange environment, getting in way over his head and falling for a beautiful woman with a past. This is sort of a film noir set in the Philippines, and even though the plot is complex it feels a bit predictable. It's a very fun read, though, and holds up better than most thrillers.
