If you drive through Oregon you can see the damage that the wood products industry did even though they tried to hide it by keeping the clear cuts away from the main roads. You have to wonder what it would have looked like if the environmental movement had gotten underway before it did. I remember reading Kathy Durbin's reporting in the Oregonian, and she tried to let people know what was going on. Now it's too late, but it's still worthwhile to read her book to learn some lessons for the NEXT battle.
