As a person with a chronic illness, I've learned the important lesson of this back. Managing your disease is much easier when you can focus on something other than your illness and really get involved in the needs of other people and your community. I expected the book to be kind of self-congratulatory, but the personal stories are very honest and I admire their writers very much.

With what energy?
What about those of us who need to focus on ways to fight illness and not all the touchy-feely stuff? I think it's great that the people telling stories for this book think say it all works for them, but it isn't the path for all personalities and all conditions. And I don't want to feel guilty about that either.
